Chaplain Dr. Paul Spence

An Independent Chaplain Serving Long Term Care Facilities For More Than 29 Years

"Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth." "O God, be not far from me: O my God, make haste for my help." --Psalm 71.9,12.

JULY 5th; LORD'S Day (Sunday); 2026.

THIS WEEK'S SERMON. In This Week's Sermon, Dr. Spence will continue, GOD Willing, speaking about The Third Pouring Of Prayer. In Isaiah 44.3, GOD says: “I will pour water upon him that is thirsty.” In the Sermon, Dr. Spence will consider the most extraordinary Verses in Scripture relating to the Word “thirst.”

THIS WEEK'S HYMN. “I Need Thee Every Hour” by Mrs. Annie Hawks (1836-1918). This Hymn was first published in 1872. The words in the Hymn raise some good questions. 1. What is it in life that you feel you need more of? 2. If you feel your need of GOD, what practical steps are you taking to deepen your relationship with GOD? 3. Are the practical steps you are taking to deepen your relationship with GOD according to the Scripture?

THIS WEEK'S REPORT. 1. One Lady who faithfully attends the Care Facility Church Services gratefully spoke of various Gifts she received last week. These Gifts came entirely unexpected and will help her in many ways. She is appreciative of GOD'S consideration in these things. 2. Another Lady is experiencing a new pain and asks for Prayer. 3. One Gentleman and his Wife ask Prayer for their Family who will be coming to see them this week. It will be an important Meeting. 4. All those in the Care Facilities who live with pain. This week there were several who spoke of this. 5. Speaking of pain, before one of the Care Facility Church Services last week, one Lady expressed how thankful she is that a chronic pain she lived with for many years is now completely gone. 6. Another Lady expresses gratitude for answered Prayer. 7. One Lady asks Prayer for her Daughter who is going through Family problems. 8. A Lady asks Prayer as she visits her physician with respect to a series of shots this physician has prescribed her to take. 9. A Lady appreciates GOD'S recent “common Gifts” to her. 10. A Lady has recently experienced a death in her Family. This death will have a singular influence on her affairs. Please keep this matter in Prayer. 11. In one of the Care Facility Church Services last week, Dr. Spence was given the largest attendance he has ever had in that place. Pray for all the Residents who made the effort to attend. THE LORD bless His Word. 12. One Gentleman keeps falling. He had another fall this past week. He now lives in a weakened state of health. 13. Those in the hospital this week. Micah 2.10 says: “Arise ye, and depart; for this is not your rest.” Psalm 37.7 says: “Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.” *These Prayer Requests come from the Residents, their Families, the Staff, or Dr. Spence's observations. In This Week's Report, the names of the people have been withheld to protect their privacy. Nevertheless, the Thanksgivings and Prayer Requests are real and actual.

THIS WEEK'S QUOTATION. Hebrews 9.11 says: “But Christ being come an High Priest of good things to come.” In his admirable Exposition Of Hebrews, that truly great Independent, Dr. John Owen (1616-1683), says of these Words: “The 'good things to come' are, in brief, all the good things in spiritual Redemption and Salvation which they looked for by the Messiah. Of these things, Christ has now become the High Priest; He now has entered upon the actual discharge of the duties of His Office—these, in general, are His Oblation and Intercession. For although His Intercession be continued in Heaven, it began on Earth; as also His Oblation was offered on earth, but is continued in Heaven as unto the perpetual virtue of it.”
